John Brown made Application to this board for a passport to go into Tryon County on some Business.

The Committee taking said request into Consideration And knowing sd Brown to be an Enemy to the states Resolved that no pass be given him.

Colonel Van Dyck Appeared before this board And informed us that sundry persons had complained to him that Lieut: Welch had inlisted sundry men for the Service of this state and sold them afterwards to the Militia Among whom is one John Maginis which appears by a return of Said welch Delivered to John A Bradt that sd Maginis Was inlisted the 13th of March last and Sold to Maas Van franke and Petrus Van Der Volgen yesterday upon Which said Welch was sent for and appeared, on Examination Said he had inlisted said Maginis at the time mentioned in the above recited return And afterwards Discharged him: And Inlisted him again about a month ago and Sold him yesterday to the above named person, Which he said he had a right to do

Upon Which the board taking said Complaint into Consideration and Judging that there may be some fraud in the proceeding thereupon Resolved that a letter be wrote to the County Committee giving them the state of this Affair And Desiring them to Examin into it and proceed as they think fit Which was done Accordingly is will Appear by a Coppy on file of this date

John F Clute Complained that John Grouenbergh Would not Deliver up a house he had rented from Jacob Jacobse Resolved that Gravenbergh be sent for he Appearing Said he had it yet in hire Resolved that Said Gravenbergh keep the possession untill she Jacobse or any body Else Entres a proper Complaint.

The present Alarm from Ticonderago Causing the Militia of this Town to be ordred out on Service This board taking the present Situation of this Town into Consideration

Resolved that a new regulation be made for keeping a Town Watch Which was done Accordingly as pr Copy on file

Huberty Bradt came before this board and made Oath that her Husband is some time Disordred in his mind and in a bad state of health and that she thinks him unfit to go on the Expidetion on which he is now warned Upon Which Resolved that a Certificate be given him to show to Major Swits in order to Clear him from the tour of Dutty

A number of the Inhabitants Appeared before this board Desiring us to order the Militia to stay in Town on Acct of the Alarming news from the Westerd we having taken their request into Consideration resolved that a letter be wrote to Brigadier General ten Broek Desiring him to let us know if the Militia may stay in this place And at same time Ordred Major Swits to stay in Town till we receive an answer from the General a letter was Wrote and Send by Abraham Groot Express to Genl. Ten Broek

Just now recieved an Answer from Genl Ten Brcek on the letter sent this Morning. We Send for Major Swits and he Appearing ordered him with his men to March as soon as possible.

Henry Glen Esr. D Q M Gl. Informed this board that he wanted a Number of Waggon to Ride provision from Albany and to bring it to Johns Town and Cherry Valley Where the Garrison are quit out of provision and if not Supplyed must Consequently leave it And that he had applyed to Major Swits for leave to take out of the Militia as many of them (that had Waggons) as he Wanted Major Swits informed him that he had orders from Genl. Ten Broek to march all the Melitia to fort Edward And therefore Could not Comply We taking the Same into Consideration Resolved that John I Van Vorst is one of the Waggoners And is Appointed to try amongst the people that doth not belong to the Militia who many Waggons he can get which was done Accordingly. John J Van Vorst returned and Said that John Bt Van Eps and Gerrit Lansing would Send their Waggons And finding it necessary to furnish Glen with Waggons Resolved that Niklaas Alexr. Vedder and Abraham Groot are Appointed to ride in the Service as often as Glen shall want them during the time the Militia is out

According to the Resolve of yesterday the Waggoners went on their Way to Albany but Some of them being stopped by the Militia on Account of these Wagoners being Militia Men insisted on their going with them we taking Said Disturbence in Consideration resolved that John J Van Vorst Niclaas Alexandr Vedder and Abraham Groot go with the Militia

Recd a letter from the Committe of Albany dated the 10 Inst requesting us to send as many Waggons Immediatly to ride Stones at Fort Edward as possible and if they wont go voluntar[ily] then to grant press Warrants to Empress them

We having taking said Letter into Consideration Resolved that warrants be given to John J Van Vorst and Jacob CIut[e] to Empress a number of Waggon for the above Service to be ready here at 8 O Clock to morrow Morning which was done accordingly Signed by the Chairman and H Glen D Q M G

Jacob Hooper and Jeremiah Johnes appeared before this Court and made Oath as (per Copy on File) that Jacobus Hogtallings endeavoured to persuade them to desert from the Service and go with him and said if they would take fifty with them they should have good Entertainment and that he the said Hogtallins would send a Letter to the British Trops either that Evening or the next Morning

This Board having taken the Evidence of the said Hoopper and Johnes into Consideration Resolved that the said Hogtallins be apprehended and committed to Albany Goal and that the Affadavits of Hooper and Johnes be at the same Time sent to the Committee of Albany which was done accordingly

The Press Master John Vn Vost informed the Board that he was unable to execute his Orders unless assisted whereupon Ensign Young was ordered to assist him with a Party of the Militia which was done accordingly

On Motion made resolved that Mr Albert Mabee be appointed to attend the Genl Meeting of the Committee at Albany the 16th Instant

Recd. by Jacob Clute a Letter from Christr. Yates informing that the Waggons we had sent to Fort Edward desired to be relieved whereupon we ordered John Vn Vost to endeavour to procure Waggons for their Relief but he returned and made Report that he could not. Upon which it was Resolved that sd. Vn Vost be dispatched with a Letter to Genl. Schuyler acquainting him of the Situation of the Farmers of this District and requesting him to permit the Waggoners to return home and that he would after estimating the Number of Waggoners employed in the Army by the County of Albany fall upon a plan of impressing a Number proportionable to each District. Recd a Letter from the Committee of Albany dated the 26th inst: requesting this Board to send twenty more Waggons to carry stores and Baggage to Head Quarters upon considering the Contents of sd Letter resolved that no more Waggons be sent at present and that an Answer be written to the sd Comte of Albany which was done accordingly (as pr Copy on File

Recd an Answer to our Letter of the 26th inst: from Gel. Schuyler informing that he could not spare the Waggons belonging to this District (as pr sd Letter) whereupon resolved that no more Waggons be sent untill the Harvest be over unless the Necessity of Affairs required it

Loderwick Braan appeared and made Complaint that Mr John Saunders refused to receive a sum of two hundred and sixty two Pounds ten Shills. due by Bond and Mortgage Whereupon resolved that Mr Saunders be sent for which was accordingly done, Mr Saunders appeared and reported that Mr Braan had not the Bond nor Mortgage with him Then the sd Bran made a tender of the sd sum of £262. . 10 to Mr Saunders in the presence of this Board and required a Recept for the Same which Saunders refused

Resolved that Messrs. Hugh Mitchell and Dirk Vn Ingen be appointed to attend the County Committee to Morrow and acquaint them therewith

Resolved that the Money be lodged in the hands of the Chairman which was done accordingly

The subcommittee returned and brought with them a Copy of the Resolution of the 30th inst concerning John Saunders and Danl Campbell with Respect to their refusing the Continental Currency in payment and in general for all Persons guilty of the same Crime

On Motion made resolved that the said Resolution be put in Execution against John Saunders. Resolved that a warrant be given from under the hand of the Chairman to Hermanus Wessels and John F. Clute Constables to apprehend sd. John Saunders and deliver him to the Council of Safety of this State at Kingston for which they are to be paid at the Rate of sixteen shillings pr Day at the Expence of John Saunders
