SCHENECTADY COMMITTEE OF CORRESPONDENCE

Proceedings, November 1775

At a meeting of the Committee, 1st Novr 1775:

Present.

Rinier Minderse, Chairman,

Jecobus Teller, Abraham Oothout,
Hugh Mitchell,James Wilson,
John Rosebom,Harmanas Wendle.

In Consequence of a Resolve of the provincial Congress to dissolve that board on the ------, and for to hold a new Election for members to sit in provincial Congress, and a resolve made by the Committee for the City and County of Albany at their meeting the 30th of Oct., to dissolve themselves the 20th December next, and ordering a new Election of members throughout the Country to sit in the several Committees.

Resolved, that Sundry advertisements be Emediately struck up at the most public places in this Township, desiring all the inhabitants to meet at the House of William White, on Tuesday, the 7th Inst., at nine o'Clock in the forenoon, then and there to Elect and Choose twelve members to represent this county in provincial Congress, and ten members to be a Committee of Correspondence, Safety & protection for this Township.

On motion made, Resolved, that sundry advertisements be Emediately struck up on the most publick places in this Town, desiring all those having any demands against the Committee to give in their accounts Emediatly to Hugh Mitchell, that they may be sattled,

At a meeting of the Committee, the 7th Novr 1775:

Present.

James Wilson,Abraham Oothout,
Hugh Mitchell.

An election having been held in presence of the above members, the following persons were legaly Elected and Chosen to be a Committee of Correspondance, safety and protection for this Township, viz: James Wilson, Jecobus Teller, Hugh Mitchell, Abraham Oothout, Harmanas Wendle, Garret G. Lansing, Albert Mabey, Christopher Yates, Derrick Van Ingan & Abraham Wemple.

The following persons were also Elected & Chosen to represent the City and County of Albany in provincial Congress, viz:

Henry Glen, Abraham Yates, Abraham Ten Brook, Robert Yates, Peter R. Livingston, Jacob Cuyler, Robert Van Ransler, Francis Nichols, John J. Bleeker, Henry Oothout, Lenard Gansefort & Peter Silvester.

At a meeting of the Committee, the 9th Novr 1775:

Present.

John Rosebom,Harmanas Wendle,
Hugh Mitchell.

On motion made, Resolved, that James Wilson attend at the general meeting of the Committee at Albany the 10th Inst., and lay before that board the pole of Election for twelve members to represent the City and County of Albany in provincial Congress.

On motion made, Resolved, that the names of the ten persons Elected to be a Committee for this Township be made publick by advertisements.

At a meeting of the Committee, 17 Novr 1775:

Present.

Hugh Mitchell.

The Commissions for the several officers appointed in this Township being now Come to hand, with instructions to this board to Caus said officers to sign sertain articles on receipt of their Commissions,

On motion made, Resolved, that Cornelious Coyler is appointed to draw up the articles to be signed by said officers, and that the Committee meet the 22d Inst for the purpose of delivering out the Commissions, and that the several officers be notifyed thereof.

At a meeting of the Committee, 22d Novr 1775.

A number of the officers being now present, agreeable to, notice given them the 17th Inst.-----

On motion made, Resolved, that their Commissions be given to them, on signing the articles prepared for that purpose, which was don as follows:
